Fury
by Kelley Campbell

I gave what I thought was right.
I gave what I could, and thought you needed.
I gave all I could, my hopes and dreams.
I gave all I am, including that which I held sacred.
You said, it wasn't enough.

I've waited, both patiently and impatiently.
I've listened, even when your words made me scream inside.
I've held you close, even when all urged me to turn away.
I've loved more than I knew I could.
You said, it wasn't sufficient.

Then damn you and your needs.
Damn her and what you think she'll give you.
I'm better than her, and you'll see that someday.
Anger may be immature, but the fury is all I have now.
You told me I wasn't enough, so be it.

You won't have what isn't enough anymore.
